Many of the athletes in the final fell during the first run of the men’s halfpipe final.

But it was during the second run which saw Totsuka suffer a gut-wrenching crash which immediately silenced the crowd.

The 16-year-old went up high on the pipe but went too far over the edge and came crashing down on the lip, smacking to the ground and falling in a heap.

Paramedics rushed to his aid and, despite Totsuka being in clear pain, he was able to sit up as they treated him.

The Japanese snowboarder was then loaded onto a snowmobile to be taken off the track to receive further testing.

After a short delay as the track was cleared, the action got back underway with Ayumu Hirano taking the lead from White going into the final run.

More updates to follow on his condition…
