Liverpool star Mane took a knock during the recent international break.
And, speaking ahead of the Reds’ clash with Southampton tomorrow, manager Jurgen Klopp has provided an update.
The German has also issued the latest on Adam Lallana, Jordan Henderson and Nathaniel Clyne.
“With Sadio [Mane] we have to wait, we have to see today,” he told reporters ahead of tomorrow’s game at Anfield.
“Adam [Lallana] has trained three days and it is fantastic he is back but there is no rush.
“We have three games next week. Anyone who knows Adam will know how ready he is. We will use him for sure but bringing him in for 90 minutes? That won’t happen.”
When asked about Henderson, he merely said: “Hendo should be ok.”
And of Clyne he said: “All specialists agreed we should try conservative way not with surgery but now agreed we had to go this way.”
Klopp also thinks Liverpool have turned a corner in recent weeks.
A month ago the Reds were stuck in a rut, with much optomism evaporating after defeats to Tottenham and Manchester City.
But Klopp thinks things are different now.
“I would love to say ‘Yes (we’ve turned a corner),” he said.
“What we know — what we knew before — is we have to improve defensively.
“Not single players, as a team we have to prepare ourselves better, not give them any counter-attacks. We did that better recently.”
